Crystal Ballroom

Crystal ballroom

As far as ballrooms go, the Crystal is a stunner. This versatile space handles a large meeting or conference as beautifully as a formal black-tie gala or extravagant celebration. We offer a winning combination of the latest in modern technology and A/V with turn-of-the-century panache. Sparkling crystal globe chandeliers, vintage candelabras, ornate crown molding and an elaborately adorned vaulted ceiling set a tone of understated opulence. Meet and mingle pre- or post-meeting in the adjacent Palm Court, an airy atrium-like space with a stained-glass dome ceiling and Italian marble flooring.

Bengal Room - Fairmont Empress

bengal room

A local landmark, this is the site of the former legendary lounge. Airy and bright, the soaring space is illuminated by a wall of windows on both sides. We lovingly restored The Bengal in 2016 to show off its striking historical architecture: ornately carved warm wood detailing and columns, vintage sconces, polished hardwood floors and an intricate recessed high ceiling. Palms, ceiling fans, Indian art and hand-carved West Coast wood tables set a tone that’s both exotic and refined. An experience in its own rite, The Bengal is available for private bookings only.

Understated and serene, the quiet elegance of the Rattenbury lets your agenda take the front seat. We named this room after The Empress’s architect, Francis Rattenbury, and true to its namesake, the space is tastefully designed — and versatile. Gather 40 guests boardroom-style around the table under the chandeliers or 180 in rounds. The flexible room accommodates 280 for receptions. Use the two adjacent salons for breaks, pre- and post-functions or separate break-out sessions: a multi-functional meeting room/reception hall with an antique fireplace and rectangular room in classic style, which fits 50 comfortably around the board table.

Library - Fairmont Empress

library room

Stately and cultured, the 1900s-era Library Room channels baronial castle. Period floor-to-ceiling windows and draperies, original wood paneling, hardwood flooring and a fireplace, accented with traditional furnishings, create an ambiance of royal opulence. An antique chandelier hangs from the elaborately adorned arched ceiling. And that’s just inside. Outside is one of the best views in Victoria: the picturesque Inner Harbour and Parliament buildings. Gather family and friends, or your executive team, to host a special event or meeting that’s truly extraordinary.
